K13 Spray-Applied Insulation
High-performance thermal and acoustic control for commercial spaces.
K 13 Spray Applied Insulation
K 13 is a spray applied thermal and acoustical finish designed for exposed structural ceilings. It is commonly used in commercial, industrial, and modern residential environments where sound control, condensation management, and a clean finished appearance are required.
Structo Insulation installs K 13 systems for projects that demand reliable acoustic performance while maintaining design flexibility.
What Is K 13
K 13 is a spray applied cellulose based insulation system engineered for open ceiling applications. Unlike traditional insulation, K 13 is applied directly to exposed surfaces to create a continuous, monolithic finish that absorbs sound and reduces reverberation.
It is frequently specified for concrete decks, metal roof assemblies, corrugated panels, and irregular surfaces where conventional insulation systems are not practical.
Key Benefits of K 13
Acoustic control
K 13 provides exceptional sound absorption, significantly reducing echo and reverberation in
large open spaces with hard surfaces.
Condensation management
When applied to cold surfaces such as metal or concrete, K 13 helps limit condensation formation
by moderating surface temperature and reducing moisture interaction.
Thermal contribution
While primarily an acoustical solution, K 13 also contributes to thermal performance by reducing
heat transfer through exposed assemblies.
Seamless appearance
K 13 creates a uniform finish that conforms to complex shapes, curves, and corrugated surfaces
without joints or seams.
Where K 13 Performs Best
K 13 is well suited for environments where exposed structure is part of the design and acoustic comfort is critical.
- Commercial environments: Restaurants, offices, retail spaces, and mixed use buildings with open ceilings.
- Large scale structures: Parking garages, warehouses, gymnasiums, and auditoriums where sound control and condensation are ongoing concerns.
- Modern residential spaces: Lofts, barndominiums, and contemporary homes seeking an industrial aesthetic with improved acoustic comfort.
Application and Surface Compatibility
K 13 adheres to a wide range of substrates, including:
- Concrete
- Structural steel
- Metal decking
- Wood surfaces
Because it is spray applied, K 13 conforms to irregular geometries such as domes, curved ceilings, and corrugated roof decks, providing consistent coverage where rigid materials cannot.
Aesthetics and Performance Control
Structo Insulation offers K 13 in a range of standard colors, including white, gray, and black. Custom color options are also available to meet design requirements.
Our application process is controlled to achieve uniform thickness and consistent performance, allowing projects to meet specific acoustic and thermal targets while maintaining a clean finished appearance.
Request a K 13 Evaluation
If a project requires acoustic control, condensation management, or a finished insulation system for exposed ceilings, a K 13 evaluation can determine whether this solution is appropriate.
Request a K 13 evaluation to review project requirements and discuss design and performance objectives.
